What a ruling means.
A preceptor is not a name on a list. Before a site is offered, the wing checks four things against the program's handbook: that the preceptor holds the license and specialty the program requires, that the setting matches the course (a psychiatric rotation is not a primary-care rotation with a mental-health clinic attached), that the hours available cover the term, and that the site has accepted this program's paperwork before or will. If any of the four fails, the site stays on the register and is not offered to you.
The stewards then take over: agreements in the school's template, credentials attached, compliance items dated past the term, and the weekly register that tells every party what is filed, what is pending and what comes next. You attend the hours and exercise the clinical judgment. The House keeps the file.
